Description
The Dell 16 laptop with Linux Mint Cinnamon — bigger screen, better build, same private operating system.
The Dell 16 laptop with Linux Mint Cinnamon is the step up from our Dell 15 — and the differences are the ones you actually feel. A 16-inch 2K display with the 16:10 aspect ratio that gives you more vertical room for documents and code. A backlit keyboard for working at night. A fingerprint reader for one-touch login. Wi-Fi 6E for faster wireless. DDR5 memory across both configs.
We buy it brand new from Dell Australia. We open the box. We wipe the operating system Dell ships with. We install Linux Mint Cinnamon in its place — properly configured, hardened for privacy, every driver tested before it leaves us.
What you get back is a full-power Dell laptop that does everything you bought a computer to do — browsing, email, documents, video calls, photos, music, streaming — without the surveillance layer Microsoft builds into every Windows install.
Two configurations. One quality standard.
You’re choosing between two real configurations from the same Dell chassis. Same 16″ 2K display. Same backlit keyboard with numeric keypad. Same fingerprint reader. Same Wi-Fi 6E. Same Linux Mint Cinnamon install. Same build standard. The differences are about how hard you plan to work the machine.
Core 5 — 16GB / 512GB · $1,675 inc GST
Intel Core 5-120U (10 cores, up to 5.0 GHz), 16GB DDR5, 512GB NVMe SSD. Plenty of memory and a fast modern processor for everyday work — browsing, email, documents, video calls, photo work, streaming. The right pick if you want the bigger screen and better build without paying for storage you won’t fill.
Core 7 — 16GB / 1TB · $1,925 inc GST
Intel Core 7-150U (10 cores, up to 5.4 GHz), 16GB DDR5, 1TB NVMe SSD. Faster processor, twice the storage. The right pick if the laptop is your main work machine, you keep a lot of files locally, and you’ll keep it for years.
Configured to order. Not pre-flashed in a factory.
Every Dell 16 we ship is configured one at a time, in Australia. Not by a script overseas. Not flashed in bulk. The install is verified end-to-end before it leaves us.
That’s why we charge a flat labour fee on top of Dell’s hardware price — and why we don’t apply a percentage markup. The labour to set up a Dell 16 is the same as the labour to set up any other Linux laptop in our range. The hardware price changes. The standard doesn’t.

Dell 15 or Dell 16 — which one?
If you spend a lot of time at a desk, work with documents, code, or spreadsheets that benefit from more vertical screen space, want a backlit keyboard, or appreciate the security of a fingerprint reader — the Dell 16 is the better laptop. The 16:10 2K display alone is a meaningful upgrade over the Dell 15’s 16:9 FHD.
If you mostly browse, email, watch video, and want the lowest entry price into a properly built Linux laptop — the Dell 15 is the right call.
If you want the latest Intel Core Ultra processors with the 2.5K display and Wi-Fi 7 — look at the Dell 16 Plus (a step up again, premium tier).
